The Beacon is part financed by the Yorkshire and Humber European Regional Development Fund Programme.
The area has been converted from industrial use to a business park with the intention of creating a pedestrian friendly street scene environment.
Unit 1 is a 16,000 sq.ft three storey office building fitted out to Grade A office accommodation standards. This forms the first phase of an overall plan for four office buildings. Unit 1 is shown in the images provided.
Internally the office has been designed to have the whole ground floor as a reception, staff café, meeting and training facilities with bespoke AV solutions fitted. The upper floors are working office spaces with quiet and breakout rooms.
Unit 2 and 3 are similar in design with unit 2 occupying a slightly smaller floor space. The specification for unit 4 is still to be finalised.
Silcock Leedham completed performance design duties which included monitoring the technical design, witnessing and testing and validating the installation.
As part of our role to validate the technical design, we assisted in the verification of alternative lighting schemes to minimise energy consumption whilst still achieving the client’s aspiration for an airy and modernly lit building. We also queried the ventilation strategy to ensure compliance with the required building regulations.
Through careful validation and monitoring we have assisted with the achievement of an Energy Performance A rating for the development.
